Brilliance, glamour, sensitivity, and bravura are in abundance as these premiere artists blend colors and textures with the help of Daniel Pesca (ESM grad student in piano and composition) and Melissa Matson (RPO principal violist). One of Beethoven's early works - his "work without opus" 37 Trio for flute, bassoon, and piano - is juxtaposed with the most recent composition by Matt McDonald's good friend Daniel Pesca. This Trio for Flute, Viola, and Bassoon was commissioned by First Muse - be the first to hear it! There will also be works for solo flute and solo bassoon, and two works with piano: Astor Piazzolla's tango "Otono Porteno" and a short trio by the jazz great Chick Corea. The intriguing combination of viola and bassoon will be showcased in Polish composer Michal Spisak's Duetto Concertante. |
